Supporting Touch in Its Work with Disadvantaged Children

For six years running, Cheers, NTUC FairPrice Foundation and Yeo Hiap Seng have been coming together to make a difference to the community

During 1 August to 15 September this year, NTUC FairPrice Foundation and Yeo Hiap Seng pledged to donate 20 cents, up to S$20,000, for every Yeo’s beverage sold at Cheers and FairPrice Xpress island-wide to TOUCH Community Services (TOUCH).

The proceeds will support TOUCH’s work with children from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them achieve their fullest potential.

The initiative was commemorated at Cheers@Downtown East where 15 children, who are beneficiaries of TOUCH, were each given S$15 to purchase any item of their choice, a goodie bag, as well as some drinks and snacks.

Aiding TOUCH in Their Noble Cause

Mr Victor Cheong, General Manager of Cheers, mentioned that the organisation was pleased to extend their support to TOUCH, aiding them in their noble mission to serve the needy and disadvantaged.

“Cheers and FairPrice Foundation, along with our strategic partner, Yeo Hiap Seng, have championed this initiative for the past six years to lend a helping hand to the less fortunate while also galvanising the community to do their part for charity.

“Together, we can create a much greater social impact as we strive to build a more caring society for all,” said Mr Cheong.

Receiving a cheque of S$20,000 on behalf of the organisation, Mr Roger Goh, Head (Partnership) of TOUCH Community Services, said that they were grateful for the support by partners such as Cheers, FairPrice Foundation and Yeo Hiap Seng.

“TOUCH has been helping children realise their potential through integrated services offering educational, social, emotional and mental support.

“We recognise that a safe and secure environment for children is key to their learning and development of life skills,” said Mr Goh.

He also noted that the amount raised will go a long way to nurture the potential of the children, helping them make a positive impact in society.

Support for the Less Well-off

Cheers, FairPrice Foundation and Yeo Hiap Seng have been supporting the less advantaged annually through this initiative since 2014. Including this year’s donation, this initiative has raised a total of S$180,000 for charitable causes.
