Leaders from the NTUC Women’s Development Secretariat (WDS) organised a community service initiative to show care and support for 51 elderly people from the Thye Hua Kwan Seniors Activity Centre (THK SAC) on 18 October 2014.

The event, which receives U Care CSR Co-Funding support under the U Care Caring∙Sharing∙Reaching out initiative, provided a “fresh, fun and unique experience” for the pioneer generation beneficiaries with a tour around the modern landscape of Singapore.

Keeping Company

One elderly participant from the outing, 67-year-old Madam Ramlah said: “The bus trip on the trolley bus was very interesting. I liked the sing-a-long (session)… (and) the volunteers were very friendly.”

The outing concluded with a sumptuous buffet and fun-filled games and activities at the NTUC Centre, facilitated by Singapore Insurance Employees’ Union’s women’s chapter.
